An engaged, medium-term process focused on medium-term goal attainment. Through the experience, members can process, work through and come to terms with issues and circumstances impacting mental, emotional and behavioural well-being. Psychotherapy often involves exploration of the past in order to understand and change present unwanted behaviours.
I am a seasoned Registered Psychotherapist (BA & MA in Psychology) with over 22 years experience working in mental health and have been seeing members exclusively in private practice for the past 8 years.
I work with a wide range of issues and am especially adept at working with trauma/PTSD, panic attacks, anxiety, phobias, depression and life transition issues. I facilitate powerful, measurable, member-centered results, quickly, using both conventional and alternative therapies – including Clinical Hypnosis, EMDR, CBT, Mindfulness, Analytic/psychodynamic therapy and other approaches.
Utilizing hypnosis I also work with health-related issues such as chronic pain, chronic illness (e.g. cancer, arthritis etc.), and overall healing and wellness. Hypnosis can be done safely online.
The personal and community impacts that have emerged from the pandemic itself and the societal/systems responses to it – have resulted in an environment pervasive with anxiety, trauma, grief and uncertainly. I look forward to helping people through this challenging and unprecedented time.
As your Registered Nurse Psychotherapist, I will guide you in a transformation from pain to peace with warmth and non-judgement. I have 15 years of mental health experience helping people through the most difficult times of their lives. I am additionally a trained cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) as well as dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) to assist adults and teens who are struggling with anxiety, depression, a wide range of addictions, relationship problems, sexual problems, teen issues, grief, inauthenticity, low self-esteem, and any lifestyle changes you wish to make. I can help you with specific trauma related to COVID-19, mandates, vaccines and the powerlessness that is often a result. Spiritual psychotherapy regardless of beliefs is also available. Let me look upon your heart that may as well.
The past few years have been a challenge of the most surreal kind. We have been, and still are being confronted with societal shifts of a scale we have never seen before. There has been a related rise in emotional and psychological struggles as everyone tries to make sense of it and manage through it. You are not alone. Having a connection to a sense of community and building resilience and healthy coping skills has never been more important.
I’m a social worker and psychotherapist with 26 years of clinical experience in the use of CBT and DBT skills. I focus on health issues such as elevated stress, anxiety, depression, trauma and eating disorders which unravel the balance of healthy living and lead to a sense of being stuck in a life that doesn’t fit anymore. Along with evidence-based therapy, I believe in a practice of holistic health that nurtures our mind, body and soul.
I look forward to connecting with you.
The process of giving professional help and advice to a member to help resolve personal or psychological problems.
I have a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology and have spent the past 20+ years working in public health with adults and young people. The list of reasons members have reached out for support is extensive but some of the issues I specialize in include relationship issues, family conflict, parenting, mental health and substance use. I am a member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and have been qualified by them, to supervise other less experienced counsellors. I have also taught communication-type courses at a local university.
I believe that every member is innately aware of the direction they need to go in therapy, to heal. My role as a practitioner is to help them through this process using various treatment modalities tailored to their specific situation, in a safe, non-judgemental environment. I don’t have a specific “recipe” that I use repeatedly with every member, rather I use effective strategies and techniques that I have learned over the years picking ones that resonate with each member.
Approach counselling as a holistic process that takes into account the mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual aspects of life.
Acknowledge each person’s capacity for strength, vitality, courage, love, peace, joy, and well-being while facing experiences such as loss, depression, and overwhelm.
Learn techniques such as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to help alleviate and manage stress.
Support couples in ways that deepen their experience of intimacy and closeness as well as commitment to a long-term relationship. Help couples learn and practice effective and constructive communication and conflict resolution skills. Provide emotional and practical support to couples considering separation within a collaborative process.
Offer parents living together or co-parenting in separate homes positive, sensitive, and effective parenting skills.
Masters in Counselling Psychology, Registered Clinical Counsellor with BCACC-over 17 years experience.
Experience working with individuals and couples dealing with loss, grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, stress and life adjustment.
These last few years have brought up a new kind of trauma-“Sanctuary Trauma”-which relates to being rejected and marginalized by previously considered “sanctuary” people and places; family, friends, work, healthcare and so on. I have also worked with individuals who experienced traumatic medical events and have recently worked with those injured by the vaccine. I am compassionate, caring, understanding and most of all, non judgmental in my approach. My goal is to help you navigate the stress of the last few years and support you in your healing.

Living with Long Covid or Vaccine Injury makes life harder – especially if doctors and/or partners, family and friends do not understand – I do understand. I have been living with chronic illnesses the medical system mostly dismisses, denies or gaslights for over 20 years – and for 15 years I have been counselling people living with medically/socially marginalized illnesses (and training other counselors).
Chronic illness impacts more than only our physical health – so it can be hard to find someone with lived experience who understands the multiple losses (job/financial security, relationships, sense of purpose etc.) and challenges navigating a medical system that is not designed to meet your needs. That is why my counselling practice focus is for people living with chronic illnesses the medical system mostly dismisses or denies.
